“Summer is for the Soul, Winter is for Health” – I’d reframe this into ‘Winter is for Self-Care’. We sure can (and should) practice our self-care at any time of year; it’s just that in winter – whether or not we are aware of TCM view on body systems – we are more realistically inclined to actually do it.

Colourpuncture – same as Acupuncture offers a wonderful system of supporting our wellbeing throughout the seasons of the year with 5 elements based treatments. But if you had to pick a time to start, I’d start in winter. There are so many benefits to it: winter is Water Element in Acupuncture and TCM, it relates to Kidneys Bladder system and so the very foundation of our health, wellbeing and longevity. With a Water Element supported and fed we are ready to meet our spring of new starts, summer of relaxation and autumn of harvests. If our Water element is deficient and weak, our Wood energy (Liver/GB, next in the cycle) goes out hand – we can’t manage our emotions and our detoxification processes properly, and there is a danger of unbalanced Wood to ‘invade the Earth’ and so our mismanaged emotions and not adequately cleansed system to negatively affect our digestive system and with that, our overall health. Then this same unbalanced Wood can not be a proper fuel for our Fire (element of summer) and when there is not enough Fire, then there is not enough nourishment for the Earth. With our Earth not supported, we enter the Metal season of autumn with not enough natural resistance to respiratory ‘invading pathogens’ – and so on.

Colourpuncture offer a wonderful way of supporting our Water element and with that a foundation of our health and wellbeing and apart from gifting us with a gentle strength and deep healing, Colorpuncture is also easy to learn and self-give making it a natural choice for self-care.
