In all natural traditions, Spring time is associated with detox, cleanse, decluttering and general refresh. One elusive aspect of a ‘refresh’ involves vision. Better vision of our here and now and a better vision of our future – or generally a bigger picture in our life.

Decluttering = clarity

Sometimes, a better vision comes as a natural by-product of a detox, decluttering and cleanse – done well. It just happens that under piles and piles of clutter – physical, emotional and informational – we may find something which is going to be our ‘next step’….which often turns out to be something which has been going to be our next step all along. Very often it is just something forgotten (the may-be-one-day thing), something related to our life’s work, a deep longing or creative expression of Self. Sometimes it can be an unexpected integration of many facets of our life which is shaping up as we detox and declutter.

I’m a big fan of all forms of decluttering and I’ve seen some amazing results of decluttering (done well) both with my patients and in my own experience. However….sometimes (oftentimes…most of the time…), a pure and simple and fully enthusiastic decluttering just isn’t happening. We can see that it’s possible – but it’s just not easy. Reasons range from busyness and pure exhaustion or sheer amount of stuff we know we will have to go through (same goes for any diet restrictions) to a background anxiety around what we can discover which prevents us from even starting. Without some targeted, structured and supportive self-care, our quest for clarity and vision may end up in danger of being lost.

Spring Cleanse support: Acupressure or/and Colourpuncture

A little help from a thousands years old wealth of knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) may just be what we need to get started and be supported on our spring decluttering journey. If we don’t have any problems starting and we just swiftly go through layers of visible and invisible stuff, to emerge on the other side with just the essentials and fresh insights, Acupressure or Colourpuncture will take us deeper and further making the experience much more meaningful.

There are many Acupuncture points we can use for Acupressure or Colourpuncture which are good for spring time, Wood element related to spring – most of them residing on paired meridians of Liver (Yin) and Gall Bladder (Yang) which Wood element rules.

As we are choosing which particular point or combination is good for us in this moment in time, we also need to keep in mind TCM’s vision for Liver being a planner and Gall Bladder being a decision’s maker. This will help us to access the progress of our spring self-care.

In the video above we are looking at two different spring time treatment sequences, both classic from Acupuncture point of view and both well suited for Acupressure and Colourpuncture self-care.

Interestingly, both feature the word ‘gate’. So… here are your Two Gates into Spring for your self-care: choose what you feel is needed and what resonates. This can be just a pair of points or the whole sequence. Daily repetition for at least two weeks would be optimal. Deepen your self-care with intentional dreaming and dreamwork and bring any insights to a better clarity with Journalling.

Yellow colour = “a thousand suns within you” is our main choice with Colorpuncture self-care. In certain situations I may use Light Green, a Soul Spirit colour – a mixture of Yellow and Green – this is more advanced Colourpuncture and a separate topic. In most situations – and especially if you are just starting – Yellow is perfect.

Acupuncture into Colourpuncture translation:

  • ‘Four Gates’

Acupuncture classic, the Four Gates are LI4 and Li3 (both bilateral), either in Yellow (or complementary Yellow/Violet) or Soul-Spirit colours (advanced option).

  • General Li/GB spring support: GB20, Li14, Li3

All bilateral points; GB20 is best done with complementary Yellow/Violet, Li14 and Li3 can be done both in Yellow (or complementary Yellow/Violet if one side is significantly more sensitive).

Dreamwork and Journaling

Springtime, Wood element and especially Liver often reads: emotions. Liver/Gall Bladder imbalance often reads: stagnation. Any of the points above will move the energy. Every time we move some stuck energy…we can expect some form of conflict resolution. This is beautiful and can be both exhilarating and freeing but may also feel intense, so I found that combining Acupressure and/or Colourpuncture with dreamwork and journaling really works wonders, both for depth of experience and practical insights.

So: for best results on our spring cleanse/detox/decluttering/refreshing-our-energy journey, some form of dreamwork and journaling provide a vital  support for processing and integration. After all, we are tapping into and constructing a vision for our future; so we need support and input of these tools providing a deeper dive into the depth of Self with intentional dreaming and dreamwork and bringing some vague insights to the surface and into a practical realm of daily application of our refreshed vision.
