Colourpuncture daily self-care and/or a deep inner quest starts with us learning about and experiencing light of different colours. Spectral range ‘body colours’; conflict resolution Soul-Spirit colours; UV and IR;  original Greys. As soon as we learn about simple colour indications for spectral colours – always step one of our Colourpuncture learning, we learn a concept of complementary colours.

This is an introduction into what we call complementary colours in Colourpuncture and how to choose which part of a complementary pair to use. Each Acupuncture meridian or a Reflex zone responds better, seems to be more attuned to a particular colour and often we use fixed protocols based on this attunement.

In Colourpuncture we also have a concept of treating points with complementary colours to fine tune the effect we would like to achieve. There are 3 pairs of complementary colours in spectral range. One represent Yin energy and another represent Yang energy. These are Red and Green; Orange and Blue and Yellow and Violet.

How do we choose?

We have colour indications and we can test for skin sensitivity. Today we will start at the concept of complementary colours by making a very simple choice of colours based both of skin sensitivity and colour indications – and we will then fine tune the choice of colours based on how we react to this colour in this moment of time.

Limbic system = emotional memory

Let’s have a look at the point which is specific to Colourpuncture.

This is not an Acupuncture point even though it’s located on one of Acupuncture meridian – Du or GV meridian – but this is not a classic Acupuncture point. It’s a point of skin reflex zone for brain structures. The point is called ‘limbic point’ and it’s a reflex zone for a limbic system.

In Colourpuncture classification and hierarchy of systems Limbic system point is one level up from body system to which most Acupuncture points belong. It’s one of ‘coordination points’, so when we treat this point we support a wellbeing of our limbic system in a way and a happier, clearer limbic system can regulate the entire body better.

First about Limbic system in very simple terms. Limbic system is not a singular brain structure but rather a collection of structures shaped as a ring and it relates to learning, memory, focus and concentration. Our limbic system regulates all our motivations, emotions and drives.

This is a place of conversion of anger and rage, happiness and peacefulness, determination and reluctance, all of human emotions, feelings and drives. Limbic system is a storage area for our life experience – happy and sad, uplifting and traumatic, all of it. This is how we remember the experience and the emotion or feeling or body sensation related to a particular experience, as in a process of forming a memory they become ‘tangled’ or ‘glued’ together.

Considering our perception varies depending on our age, life experience and correct understanding of the situation – many emotional visions which our limbic system stores  could be biased or even totally incorrect – both sides – too stressful or too rosy. It’s usually a lot more about our perception than about reality as such. And so in our adult everyday life, limbic system = a selection of emotions (based on what’s stored inside it under which ‘label’ or related entanglement), which is automatic and unconscious.

Limbic system reflex zone, choosing colour

Limbic point is located 1 finger width up from Yin Tang on the midline on the face. This is a level of what is called ‘neurasthenia line’ in Colourpuncture. This line is very effective and often used treated in Violet colour.

From a description of what limbic system is responsible for, it is clear that the colours should be colours related to strength, clarity and also deep relaxation – spiritual level if you will, as sometimes our life experience can not be completely understood or fully accepted as many thing we don’t chose but we still react to them. In Colourpuncture these are functions of Yellow and Violet.

How do we choose the colour for this moment of time as we only apply one colour at a time? A default colour is Yellow as it totally answers a call for clarity, focus and strength – the qualities which a happy and balanced limbic system will provide us with. A complementary colour to Yellow is Violet, a colour of creativity, spiritual awareness and meditative states.

Violet gives us relaxation; yellow gives us concentration.

We start with the default colour which is here Yellow, find the point and if the skin sensitivity is average, apply yellow and feel into it.

Application is simple and straightforward: we are holding our Perlux under the right angle, gently touching the skin. If it feels good, keep applying Yellow. If for whatever reasons, it doesn’t feel right – switch to Violet and feel into Violet. Usually one of two colours feels better in this particular moment of time depending if we need invigoration/feeding or release/relaxation.

Why feel not a point and don’t just go with prescribed colour?

With colour indications (great starting point) we choose with our mind, with our ideas of what we need – which may or may not be correct. Here are some simple examples:

  • We may feel we need Yellow as we need to focus on a project or exam preparation but we already had any cups of coffee; we are stressed; and our stress actually doesn’t let us fully learn, absorb and retain the information – so in reality we may need Violet to pause, relax and start again.
  • We may feel that we need Violet as we are very stressed; but what is happening is: we are very stressed because we don’t apply ourselves to learning or doing so we really need Yellow for focus, clarity and determination – and to support learning.

Limbic point is also an excellent point for energy, even when you simply massage it throughout the day, several times, as and when needed.

So, summary: limbic point, treated with Colourpuncture in dynamic Yellow or deeply relaxing Violet supports learning and concentration, clarity and motivation, focus and energy – and deep relaxation.
