The vibe of the Spring air is a ‘Promise’. The energy needed to fulfil this promise is freedom and movement.
The energy of a new season in nature is full of hope and so ‘promise’ of a fresh start; warmer and sunnier days ahead, growth and development, optimism and action. It’s a totally new breath of life where the new Yang energy is gathering strength every day, and so do our final winter contemplations resulting in the ‘Instead’ insights and plans.
Here is a very simple, very quick but surprisingly effective Spring Journaling exercise (please watch the video above for details and more ideas) which will help to remove any visible and invisible barriers and so create optimal conditions for the ‘promise’ to be fulfilled:
- Write down 5 areas of your life where you feel there is not enough movement; where there is some confusion, stagnation or inertia (this could be anything, from your kitchen cupboards to your professional life)
- Leave the exercise at it and go about your day
- After some time look at the list and see what simple action step or two you could take in each of this directions (sort out one shelf of your kitchen cupboard; book a consultation with a professional development adviser); this is not a decluttering (unless you also feel this is needed), this is just an indication, setting some direction of some action path which may or may not fully manifest
- Every time a new area of ‘not enough movement’ comes to mind, add it to the list
- Get your list of New Year Resolutions, the ‘Instead’ journaling exercise or any random goals/wishes and put this together with your ‘5 + developing’ list
- Give time for the One Thing to emerge and once clear, take it into your Yang season of Spring and Summer for a full reset, refresh and/or development.
The One Thing is a key area of our internal or external life which once intentionally organised, will let everything else get into motion and fall in place and this could be:
- one of your initial 5 entries
- something you completely overlooked but what came to your mind later
- something which came up when you started on some action steps.
The key here is to make this list quickly and without any thinking, just writing on paper whatever is on your mind right now. This is important as after this first, easily accessible and superficial layer is fully acknowledged in writing, the real work of your mind begins. The full clarity – and so focused action – and so creating conditions to fulfil the ‘promise’ – only comes together once some action (the Yang) was initiated as the path will start revealing itself and all the correction or diversion or complete change which may be needed will become apparent.
