Unfinished business’ dreams present us with rich and intriguing journaling prompts, naturally emerging as we dive deep into our dreamwork, intentional dreaming and dream analysis. Recurrent dreams tend to spotlight ‘unfinished business’ – plans/wishes/connections which were dear to us in some way and got left unresolved and unintegrated.
Our dreams can highlights any kind of unfinished business: external (when we have to do something to complete or close the issue) or internal – we have something to do on a soul level; this has to do more with our inner development as human beings; our emotions; feelings; communication with people; relationships and family dynamic; our spiritual mission in life.
How do we connect insights from the dream and our work on dream analysis with a final aim of any dreamwork – which is to convert these insights to create some tangible actions in the external or subtle changes on the soul level which will make our life better; or will simply indicate a completion of a particular stage, sending a clear signal to our internal self that this pain point is attended to and this ‘unfinished business’ resolved?
Sometimes it’s clear, easy and straightforward and a resolution of the unfinished business can happen with a simple action in present moment or a firm internal decision.
Sometimes, we feel that a certain conducive environment or special timing will create this little extra support which we need – and once a decision was made, we are happy to wait until that moment arrives. In this situation, how do we keep our task in sight until a completion and not simply forget about our good intentions as ‘life happens’ and we get distracted?
Most ‘messages of the night’, insights we get from our dreams are but little glimpses of intermittent, sometimes broken, sometimes improving…but never fully given up on communication between our Inner Self and our Daily Self. Inner Self has a compass for our life and with that it has needs; our Daily Self has a power of making decisions and managing the rest. And so our dreamwork, journaling and external tangible actions on final stages of dreamwork – or internal decisions followed by firm plans – all provide a fertile ground for building a better aligned life where individual dream and journaling entries form a whole host of supportive messengers, links, connections, promises, and ultimately a type of ‘agreements’ formed and held between out two Selves.
This video is a part of our Dream Yourself Together Q&A session where we discuss common challenges we face in our dreamwork: intentional dreaming and dream analysis – and our learnings and fascination with the process.
Our dreamwork groups are kept small for a reason: we focus on individual attention with dream analysis and on creating a friendly and trusted space with dreams being very personal matters; if you are interested please register on a waiting list using the form below:
